Yesterday, I wrote a post about the Dallas Morning News and I took a cheep shot at the editorial staff. It was wrong of me and I am sorry. I was angry and hurt, so I my judgement was flawed.
I would like to come back later today and write a longer retraction with a bit of an explanation, but until then I asked them to accept this simple apology. The editors are excellent journalists and do immeasurable good for our city. It is my wish to build a positive relationship with the Dallas Morning News, and yesterday’s post was not helpful. I apologize for the hurt I caused and I sincerely hope I will be given a chance to make amends.
Perhaps yesterday’s post will do some good, anyway. I thought it was good, actually.
Thanks for your vote of confidence, Doc!
It takes a lot of courage to take the high road. And you’ve done this. DMN is an ally. I appreciate their feelings. I might add, though, that 9 states of the Union forbid atheists from serving in any level of government. And these states include Massachusetts. Ten years ago the president of the United States said atheists aren’t citizens. Maybe oppressed isn’t the right word. But it sounds close to the sentiment.
History is never made by polite women. FIrst Rule for Blogger Anne..NEVER Apologize! You have a right to your opinion whether it is “good”/”popular” or not. How was holding the opinion that that the DMN editors glossed over something important a cheap shot? You may modify your opinion in the future and evolve, but unless you have slandered someone, you don’t apologize for ANYTHING let alone putting out a courageous minority opinion. It makes you look weak. I need you to be the confident pioneer, renegade that I want to follow. The Dallas Morning News is not a person and they are not your customer. Readers like me are.
I demand you apologize for apologizing and take down your apology!
I love you, Farhin!
Hear, hear! Apology retraction is in order! I vote Yay!!!!!!!
Ann, of course, you were raised to “Be nice.” So was I. That didn’t get either of us as far as Mason got with being honest and blunt about it, too. She earned the personal and direct respect of Christopher Hitchens! She must have gotten at least some of this from you. We support your courage and do not demand “nice” but merely blunt truth. (And, yes, we can be demanding, can’t we? Well, I just simply refuse to apologize about it, so there!)
Thanks. I’ll give blunt a try. Could be fun!
