The Raven- Read by Christopher Lee

Happy Halloween! Gather the children for one of the best ghost stories ever- read by a true master of the theatre. Dim the lights, light the candles, and snuggle up for a good scare.

  1. Michael Fisher says:

HERE’S an eleven minute animation for The Nightmare Before Christmas ~ Tim Burton’s original poem narrated by Christopher Lee

“…Boys and girls of every age
wouldn’t you like to see something strange
Come with us and you will see,
    this our town of Halloween
This is Halloween, this is Halloween,
pumpkins scream in the dead of night
This is Halloween, everybody make a scene,
trick or treat till the neighbours come and die of fright
    It’s our town, everybody scream,
    in this town of Halloween
I am the one hiding under your bed,
teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red
I am the one hiding under your stairs,
fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair…”

Lee is 89 now & still working hard

  2. Phaenarete says:

Here is the question: Why does the narrator continue to torture himself with questions to which he knows the answer? The raven never alters his response, “Nevermore.” The poet is driving himself mad. Don’t we all do this from time to time?

  3. Andrew Slovensky says:

Only Edgar Allan Poe could create such a sense of impending dread or convey such longing sadness using consonance, assonance, and rhyme. And only Christopher Lee could do it justice in reading.
